This event has been well attended and we expect a significant increase in number of entries this year as we are again offering a 5k run/walk! This will provide a phenomenal opportunity for patronage of local businesses, particularly those choosing to become sponsors. This event will take place Saturday September 1, 2018 and we hope to welcome you as a sponsor.

Safe Harbors is again working to create an annual event that will bring business to Wallowa County while promoting the healthy lifestyle that triathlons and 5ks encourage. We also hope that by publicly racing to end abuse we can set an example as a county that does not tolerate abuse in any form.

The continued success of this fundraising event is contingent on community support, and all proceeds will benefit Safe Harbors in their quest to aid victims of abuse in Wallowa County. Sponsoring this race will gain your company strong brand loyalty from race participants, who prefer to support a race sponsor’s product if possible. Research has shown that 86% of triathletes are more likely to purchase a sponsor’s product over a non-sponsor, and the number of triathletes in the U.S. is continually growing.

Triathlon Sponsorship, It’s a Matter of Numbers

The decision whether to sponsor an event hinges on numbers, and in the case of the triathlon industry, the numbers are great.  Renewed calls for a fitter society have increased interest in running and triathlon events from a broad segment of the population. Triathlon is the fastest growing sport in the US with triathlon participation at an all-time high. The most recent study from Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association shows 2,295,000 million unique Americans participated in at least one triathlon in 2011…a 55% growth from the previous year! Most importantly, 78% reported participating in sprint length triathlons, such as the Wallowa Lake Triathlon: Race to End Abuse.

Disclaimer
In the event that sufficient funding isn’t in place for the September 1, 2018 Wallowa Lake Triathlon: Race to End Abuse, the race date will be postponed.  Funds donated by sponsors will be held by Safe Harbors specifically for the Wallowa Lake Triathlon: Race to End Abuse for use for the new race date.

In the event of snow, the race will be cancelled, and funds returned to donors.
